Springfield, IL – Ben Bedford releases his fourth album The Pilot and the Flying Machine, and from that album is “Letters From The Earth”. When I first listened to this track, I was more shocked at how I hadn’t listened to him earlier. What first caught my attention about this song is the rhythm that is driven by the bass – potentially double bass. I love the contrast between the deep, rooted sound of the bass the classic americana string-driven sweetness that makes the song. The intro begins really stripped down and the song builds from there into such a wonderful track.

His voice reminds me a lot of Hamilton Leithauser from The Walkmen mixed with a little of Ra Ra Riot’s Wes Miles. It’s just a song loaded with sweetness and good vibrations. Check out the full album here:

I am not real...or at least not who you think I am, merely a figment of my own imagination. If you stumbled upon this blog...I can only wonder how.
